Our Trainers

Micaela Gruber
Program Director/Hiking Manager

Micaela’s love of fitness began early in her life, growing up in Minnesota and playing a variety of sports throughout high school. After enduring and healing from a knee surgery, she committed herself to not taking fitness for granted, frequenting the gym and helping her friends with their training. After relocating to California in 2003, Micaela was inspired to get her education in personal training. She attended the National Personal Trainers Institute and Equinox Fitness Training Institute where she fell in love with the science of fitness and has been training since. Micaela is CPR and AED certified, and has also received her certifications in Kettlebell, Pre and Post-Natal and Nutrition. Her personal goal is to make a difference in peoples’ lives. She enjoys  bringing a smile to someone’s face after running a mile, or pushing them to do two more push-ups and building their confidence. Her deepest satisfaction comes from helping our guests to feel like a million dollars because they know their worth.

Micaela feels blessed to have the opportunity to work in the field she loves. She knows she’s in the right place when her body, mind and soul feels renewed after a day’s work. She loves hiking, singing, dancing, rollerblading, comedy, working out, laughing, baking, cooking and playing guitar.

She worked at the Resort when it was called the Body Shop Spa, where she shared her love of fitness with our guests while training herself to push beyond her own limitations. Megan incorporates fitness into her own life and loves to run, bike, swim, hike, camp and anything else that gets her out and active. She has run two marathons and six triathlons. Megan enjoys reading, being a mother and wife, cooking and eating and being in the sun – this self proclaimed beach girl was raised in California and after living in Utah, Oregon and Washington, is grateful to be back.

Megan believes in the power of bringing joy and happiness into every aspect of our lives and our guests appreciate her positive outlook as they embrace new healthy, balanced lifestyle goals. It’s easy to celebrate our own capable nature when we’re in Megan’s company.

Ravenna Fahey
Trainer

Ravenna has been a lifetime athlete, participating in “a million sports” growing up, focusing mainly on swimming and ice hockey, where she won several awards and state championships (she was the only girl on her hockey team). Ravenna attended Juilliard School where she graduated with honors and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater. During her college experience, Ravenna struggled with food and fitness, gained weight, grew depressed and made a decision to create a positive change in her life. She returned to the gym where she renewed her love of working out, lost the excess weight and rebuilt her confidence. This life changing experience inspired her to become a personal trainer and help others harness their own inner strength and remember that through health and wellness, ANYTHING is possible. She became an IntenSati Certified Instructor in 2008 and ACE Certified in 2009. After working in New York City at Equinox, Ravenna made a move to the west coast, settling in Los Angeles.

Ravenna’s goal of completing a triathlon motivates her to continue training and meeting her smaller goals along the way. She is also committed to learning Spanish, becoming better at surfing, playing team sports and traveling. Ravenna loves hiking, doing her CrossFit workouts, reading, cooking, meditating, writing, singing, dancing, surfing, traveling, swimming, yoga, meeting new people and laughing. With her feet on the ground and her standards set high, this woman does it all! Her faith, family and friends inspire her daily, while her passion for life encourages others to grab onto the energy available to them and go for it. Ravenna’s motto for life is “Enjoy it!”

Heather Funston
Trainer

Heather’s journey as a former guest of the Resort after a lifetime struggle with her weight has given her a unique appreciation of fitness, transformation and self-acceptance. After maintaining a 95 pound weight loss over the last three years, Heather credits much of her success to the nutrition, education, life skills and focus on movement that she learned during her 13 weeks as a Resort guest. Now, her deepest passion is helping others to embrace a more balanced, healthy lifestyle. Heather’s in-depth understanding and respect of the Resort’s program, combined with her own experience in training, group fitness, yoga and health have prepared her to empower others to focus on positive change, cultivate self-love, and celebrate their inner courage in an environment of non-judgment, acceptance and joy. Heather encourages others to recognize their power of choice and embrace an attitude of gratitude as they take action to choose health and live in a body they love.

Heather earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Theater from Skidmore College, later earning her Master’s degree from the New School Parsons in Documentary Film. A Texas native, she has spent much of her adult life in New York City and now happily resides in L.A. She is an AFAA Certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Intensati Certified, Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, certified Prenatal and Kids’ Yoga teacher, Schwinn Certified spin instructor and a four time marathon runner. Heather adores travel, personal growth, empowering others, eating delicious food and learning about new cultures. When Heather is not at the Resort, she can be found hiking, running, dancing, practicing yoga, teaching and playing with her three Chihuahuas. As a dedicated student of life, Heather considers every moment, every interaction and every breath a gift.

Carol Gilmore
Trainer
Carol is a NASM certified personal trainer and a Maddog Spinning certified instructor. Her commitment to helping others is unmistakable as she reminds our guests to believe in their ability to exceed their own expectations. Carol received her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She spent the first 10 years of her career working in Marketing and Promotions for Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros before she transitioned into the role of full time stay-at-home mother and wife. The shift from career to raising small children resulted in a more sedentary lifestyle and eventually, weight gain. After spending a few years feeling dissatisfied with her fitness levels, Carol headed back to the gym. Reconnecting to a fit lifestyle renewed her confidence, and changed her body, attitude and life for the better.

Carol’s focus on fitness inspired her to become a trainer so she could help others to make changes in their lives and enjoy the lasting benefits of a healthy lifestyle. At nearly 50, she’s in the best shape of her life and hopes to inspire others to realize that age is simply a number and not an obstacle to becoming more of who they want to be.  When she’s not raising energy levels in our fitness classes, Carol enjoys the beach, cooking, traveling, hiking, swimming, boxing and reading. Her philosophy is that fitness and good health presents opportunities to enjoy life.
